When choosing to use a third-party web service, such as Shopify or Wix, they will provide you with DNS records you need to set to use their services. These DNS settings can break your email service. You will need to reconfigure your DNS to keep your email deliverable.
Follow the steps below to ensure your email service stays online. Please note that we use yourdomainname.com.au as an example. Replace this with your actual domain name.
- Log in to cPanel
- On the right-hand side, you will see a General Information box. Look for the Shared IP Address value. Note this for the next steps.
Important: your IP address will be different depending on which server you are on. Do not use the sample IP address shown below:
- Now, scroll down to the Domains section and click on Zone Editor:

- Click on the Manage button next to your domain name.
- In the Search Box at the top of the screen, search for mail. (Make sure you include the full stop):

- Look for the record that matches mail.yourdomainname.com.au. It's usually a CNAME record:

- Click on the Delete button to delete this record and confirm:

- Now, click on the Add Record button at the top right:

- Type in mail.yourdomainname.com.au and the Shared IP Address you noted earlier.

- Click on Save Record
- Now, clear the search box and click on the MX filter:

- You should see your MX record. Click on the Edit button:

- Change the Destination to mail.yourdomainname.com.au and click on Save Record:

Please allow up to 4 hours for these changes to take effect.
