For improved email deliverability, you should add a DMARC record to your DNS.
DMARC stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance. It protects your domain from unauthorised use and email spoofing.
It works by aligning your SPF and DKIM and instructs the receiving server what to do with emails that don't appear to be from your sending server.
With DMARC you have three options to choose from on how the receiving email server should handle unauthorised use of your domain name.
- None
Monitors your email traffic but no actions are taken - Quarantine
Treat fake emails as spam and deliver to the recipients spam folder - Reject
Do not deliver the email
The best option would be to instruct the recipient server to Reject but you may have scenarios where Quarantine is better option. For example, if your website is sending unauthenticated emails.
