Outgoing email bounce back

When sending an email, you may receive a bounce-back error message.

The error message will give you more information on what to do next to resolve the problem.

Here are some common issues and how to fix them:

550 5.1.1:  Recipient address rejected

The email address you are sending to doesn't exist. Check you have spelt the email address correctly and that the email address is still current.

550 5.4.1 Recipient address rejected: Access denied

The content of your email may have been classified as spam. Check your email, including attachments. You may need to contact your recipient and ask them to add your email address to their whitelist or allow list.

Try sending a text-only test email to confirm the issue is content related.

550 5.7.1: SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data

550 5.7.1 [CSR] Account blocked.

Our outgoing mail filter has detected that the content of your message may be considered to be spam.

If you look at the error message you will see there is a link contained in the text.  For example:

TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384:256 CV=yes: SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data: 550 5.7.1 [CS] Message blocked. If this is a false positive, please report this to your hosting service provider. See https://console.mailchannels.net/insights/bounce?auid=uptimewebhostingptyltd&sender=test%40uptimehost.com.au&txid=??

Open this link to see why your email was blocked:

If you're sure the email is okay to send, click the Not Spam button, and your email will be delivered to the recipient. Be prepared, though, for another bounce-back if the receiving server also suspects your email is spam.

You should check your emails' content and ensure you are sending emails with the correct set-up.

525 5.7.13: Disabled recipient address

This error occurs of the email address is no longer available, possibly due to the recipient no longer working at the company.

550-5.7.26: Your email has been blocked because the sender is unauthenticated.

This is typically caused by missing DNS entries on your domain.  Please check you have a DKIM, DMARC and SPF record set up on your domain name.

Use the Email Deliverability tool in cPanel to check and set these up automatically.
