Using DNS Filter Policies

A DNS Filter policy allows you to block or allow websites based on their category.

You can apply a policy to an entire site or individual users (clients). This gives you the flexibility to protect and block staff based on their individual needs.  For example, you may want to block admin staff from using social media during work hours but not block your marketing team.

Follow this guide to create policies for your business.

  • Once logged into DNS Filter, click on Policies on the left-hand menu and then Filtering.
  • Click the Add button, enter your Policy Name (e.g., business hours block), and click the Create button.
  • Now switch to the Categories tab
  • Click on the categories you'd like to block (they will turn red when blocking is enabled)
  • To apply your new policy to a site, switch to Deployments -> Sites:

Then click the Edit icon next to one of your Sites.

In the Policy dropdown, select your new policy:

Click the Update button to make your change
  • To apply your policy to a user, switch to Deployments -> Roaming Clients

Then click the Edit icon next to one of your users.

From the Policy dropdown, select your new policy:

    Click the Save button
