How to temporarily turn off cPanel web hosting security.

Your cPanel hosting account is protected by a complex security system. This protects your account from malicious files and hack attempts.

Sometimes the security system can block valid actions such as uploading a plugin.  This is called a false positive.  If you need to disable the security on your cPanel account, please follow these steps.

  1. Login into your cPanel account
  2. Scroll down to the security section and click on ModSecurity
  3. Click on the Off button next to the domain you want to disable security for:
  4. Perform the tasks you need to do and then click the On button again to turn the security back on again.

Important Leaving security turned off on your account will leave it open to attack and is a breach of our terms and conditions.  Ensure that you activate the security once you have completed the tasks you need to do.
